We are currently recruiting for a Senior Associate to join DLA Piper’s market-leading Real Estate team in Sydney.

With one of the largest global real estate practices, we advise on complex, cross-border matters for leading institutional investors, private capital clients and global organisations. Our continued growth reflects our clients’ evolving needs, and we are expanding our team to support high-value, multi-jurisdictional work across priority sectors.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Associate, you will play a key role in leading the delivery of complex, high-value real estate matters while building strong, trusted client relationships and contributing to the growth of the practice.

You will work closely with partners and collaborate across global teams, leveraging DLA Piper’s international platform to deliver end-to-end real estate solutions across the full asset lifecycle, including acquisitions, development, financing, leasing and asset management. In addition, you will have the advantage of being mentored and working directly for the Head of Real Estate Australia and Sector Head for Real Estate Australia Internationally.

Main duties and responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex real estate transactions, ensuring high-quality outcomes and effective risk management
Build and maintain strong client relationships through commercially focused, solution-driven advice
Manage matters and coordinate multi-disciplinary and cross-border teams
Supervise, mentor and develop junior lawyers within a high-performing team
Contribute to business development initiatives and identify growth opportunities across key sectors
Maintain technical excellence and provide pragmatic, market-informed advice

About You

We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies however candidates who have around 5 + years' PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience for this role. Characteristics suited to the role include:

Significant experience in real estate law, including acquisitions, disposals, development, leasing and asset management
Strong commercial acumen and the ability to deliver practical, business-oriented advice
Proven ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast-paced environment
Excellent drafting, communication and client relationship skills
Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members
An interest in alternative asset classes such as data centres, infrastructure and renewable energy
