Your Opportunity
As the Contracts Coordinator you will contribute to the Region’s goal of market leading Vocational Education and Training (VET) services by effectively coordinating a wide range of agreements and associated compliance activities. This includes coordinating the development, execution and record keeping of various contract types, such as Training Services Agreements, Vocational Placement Deeds, Third Party Agreements, MOUs, Articulation Agreements, Lease Agreements, Sponsorships, and more.
The role requires strong attention to detail, stakeholder engagement, and an understanding of statutory and policy obligations. This position contributes directly to organisational risk reduction, ensuring service continuity, and stakeholder confidence through rigorous contract lifecycle management and compliance oversight.
This position reports to the Contract Manager.
This is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity to 24 December 2027 unless otherwise determined.
The position will be based primarily at Cairns however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the success of the organisation through modelling the established TAFE Queensland values and the team’s agreed behaviours.
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of a broad range of contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with policy, use of contract management systems for accurate recording keeping, and mitigation of legal and financial risks.
- Participate in internal audits and reviews of contract management systems and policies, communicate the findings and rectification actions to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain the region’s contracts register, providing timely insights and action reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of clear, consistent contract management policies, procedures, processes, work instructions, and guidelines to maximise efficiency and compliance.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant training legislation, regulations, policies and guidelines and engage collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders (including state networks) to ensure compliance with TAFE Queensland’s statutory obligations.
- Perform other duties, projects and tasks as requested.

How You Will Be Assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
- Contract Lifecycle Management and Compliance. Demonstrate strong capability in leading end-to-end contract lifecycle activities, including the development, execution, monitoring and review of diverse contracts and agreements. Show proficiency in managing compliance frameworks, minimising risks, and ensuing compliance is consistently met within the VET Quality Framework.
- Governance and Analytical Thinking. Demonstrates sound judgement and attention to detail in maintaining accurate records, analysing contract data, and identifying trends or risks. Applies governance principles to ensure transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in contract management practices.
- Communication and Stakeholder Engagement. Communicates effectively and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders. Demonstrates strengths in negotiating, influencing, written communications, and delivery advice or guidance with clarity and confidence that builds strong productive working relationships.
- Process Improvements. Demonstrated experience developing and refining operational procedures and workflows to support compliance, service consistency and efficiency.
- Adaptability and Team Contributions. Displays flexibility responsiveness and initiative in managing competing demands and adapting to change. Shows a commitment to continuous improvement and process innovation, contributing to team success, knowledge sharing including supporting succession planning and training.
Highly Desirable Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Diploma of Contract Management or equivalent
- Certificate IV in Government (procurement / contracting)
