Salary range: $77,489 per annum + 13.5% superannuation
About The Role
The Team Leader Fire and Biodiversity leads a small field team delivering bushfire mitigation and biodiversity works across Hobart’s natural areas. The role focuses on day-to-day coordination of field activities, safe work practices and supporting program delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- lead and supervise field staff, contractors and volunteers
- deliver bushfire mitigation, fuel reduction and biodiversity field programs
- support planning and coordination of works and projects
- monitor progress of works, timelines and budgets
- arrange and manage equipment, materials and resources
- maintain records and contribute to reporting and program improvements.
This role may require occasional work outside normal hours, including weekends.

What we are looking for
The ideal candidate is a practical, hands-on team leader with experience in bushfire, biodiversity or land management. They are organised, safety-focused and comfortable working outdoors while leading small teams.
Skills And Experience
- experience in biodiversity, bushfire mitigation or land management field work
- leading or supervising small teams
- ability to operate and oversee use of plant and equipment safely
- good planning, organisation and coordination skills
- ability to monitor work programs and complete basic reporting
- clear communication skills and a team focused approach
- strong focus on safety and safe work practices
- physical fitness for outdoor and field based work.
Qualifications And Licences
- Certificate IV in Conservation and Land Management or similar
- current drivers licence
- White Card and relevant tickets (e.g. chainsaw, chemical handling)
- Registration to Work with Vulnerable People or ability to obtain.
