About The Role

We are seeking an organised and proactive Purchasing Officer to join our Melbourne Operations team.

Reporting to the Materials Planning Manager at our Hallam manufacturing site (Initial training at Boronia

site), you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely procurement and delivery of materials and services

required to support production schedules and customer commitments.

This is a fast-paced position requiring strong supplier management, problem-solving skills, and the ability

to effectively coordinate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to maintain uninterrupted

production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expedite materials and services to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Manage purchase order delivery dates and proactively follow up overdue orders.
  • Monitor production shortage reports and take action to prevent supply disruptions.
  • Liaise with Production and Spare Parts teams to identify and resolve material shortages.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders in accordance with company authority levels.
  • Identify alternative supply solutions when delivery risks arise.
  • Recommend alternative suppliers to improve supply continuity and performance.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels while supporting business and production demands.

Qualification and experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in purchasing, supply chain, procurement, or materials planning.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and material flow processes.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (D365 experience highly regarded).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and perform under pressure.
  • Purchasing or Supply Chain qualifications will be highly regarded but are not essential
