The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of primary health and community programs and has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.
Administration Officer – Maternal Child Health
The Administration Officer role will give you the opportunity to provide support and to be the first point of contact for clients and staff at the SWAMS Kwilenup building (Eaton), always ensuring a professional and friendly manner is portrayed.
The Administration Officer provides not only reception support for the MCH team, but also assists with a wide range of administrative tasks such as the following but not limited to;
- Ensuring client data is accurate by updating as relevant through communication with clients every visit, plus additional contact with clients as required.
- Assisting with the organisation and coordination of administrative activities for the visiting specialists.
- Assisting in maintaining relevant databases through accurate data input and processing to ensure records are kept up to date at all times.
- Attending to the MCH administrative needs with SWAMS subsidy program; understanding the requirements around subsidies, receiving invoices, linking with the appropriate clinical staff for subsidy application, and then inputting data and sending to accounts for paying.
- Provide administrative assistance and support for the MCH Coordinator and the Senior Child Health Nurse with contract reporting requirements.
Essential Criteria
- At least 12 months experience in an administration environment
- Good computer skills with experience and competency in all Microsoft programs
- High level of customer service skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills along with an ability to adapt to changing needs
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in Community or Aboriginal Health
- Successful Completion of a medical reception or administration course
