As a Mechanical Technician based in Moorebank, Sydney, you will perform maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on automated stacking cranes, Bromma Spreaders, Straddles, yard gate automation systems, and other infrastructure. You will handle corrective and preventative maintenance on both automated and manual container handling equipment in the field and onsite workshop, ensuring all work is carried out safely, economically, and to expected client quality standards.
What Are Your Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repairs: Carry out mechanical and electrical fault finding, preventative maintenance (PM) servicing, and emergency corrective repairs on automated and manual container handling equipment.
- Warranty & Engineering Works: Perform warranty repairs in accordance with factory requirements and carry out engineering orders or change requests where needed.
- Shift Operations: Be available to work rotating shifts in line with the roster pattern, which includes both day and night works.
- Cross-Functional Support: Assist Electrical tradespeople in any fault finding and corrective works, and actively learn new technology and processes on Kalmar products.
- Documentation & Safety: Accurately complete daily tool boxes, crane pre-start inspections, shift logs, and actively participate in SWMS, Take 5’s, and risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.

What You Bring To The Role
- Qualifications: You hold an Australian Mechanical trade qualification, with Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or Mobile Plant Technology highly preferred.
- Extensive Experience: Substantial post-apprenticeship experience specialising in fault finding, repairs, and PM Service on heavy mobile plant, such as earth moving, container handling, or marine equipment.
- Technical Expertise: You possess strong knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, drivetrains, diesel engines, and rubber tyre gantry cranes, alongside an understanding of Electric Vehicle (EV) systems and charging requirements.
- Licenses: You hold an applicable driver's license (manual, LR to MR preferred), and ideally possess High Risk Work Licenses, a Forklift operator's license, and an Elevated Work Platform (EWP) license.
- Team Player & Safety Focus: You are a highly motivated, customer-orientated professional with excellent interpersonal skills who can lift heavy objects safely, work at heights, and actively build strong client relationships.
