Solution Architect - Data Centres (BMS/PLC)

Siemens

As Australia's digital economy continues to accelerate, Siemens is playing a critical role in enabling the next generation of data centre infrastructure. Through our Electrification & Automation business, we deliver innovative power distribution, automation, digitalisation and energy solutions that support hyperscale, colocation and enterprise customers in building resilient, sustainable and high-performing facilities.

With the rapid expansion of AI-driven data centres, high-density computing, and emerging technologies such as liquid cooling, the industry is shifting beyond traditional Building Management Systems toward more advanced PLC and hybrid BMS/PMS/PLC architectures. Siemens is uniquely positioned to support all of these control system approaches through our integrated portfolio of automation and electrification technologies.

To support this evolution, we are expanding our Data Centre team and seeking an experienced

BMS / PLC Solution Architect to help design and shape next-generation infrastructure solutions across Australia and New Zealand. This role sits within the Data Centre vertical sales team and reports to the Head of Data Centres, working across both direct customer engagements and partner-led opportunities.

The Opportunity

You will play a key role in designing innovative, end-to-end control and automation architectures that meet increasingly complex customer requirements while driving efficiency, performance and cost optimisation through intelligent design.

Working closely with Sales, Engineering, and the Data Centre Vertical team, you will help position Siemens’ BMS, PLC and process automation capabilities within our broader portfolio, including digital twin and planning software, MV/LV power distribution, packaged substations, security systems and access control solutions.

You will act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, consultants and partners—translating operational requirements into scalable, future-ready designs that align with modern data centre demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of integrated BMS, PMS and PLC-based architectures for data centre applications
  • Develop innovative control system solutions across MV/LV electrical, automation and digital domains
  • Act as a technical advisor to customers, consultants and delivery partners across project lifecycle stages
  • Drive adoption of Siemens automation, digitalisation and energy management technologies within data centre projects
  • Support sales and bid teams with solution design, technical documentation and value engineering
  • Provide architectural guidance during project delivery to ensure design intent, performance and reliability are achieved
  • Collaborate across Siemens teams and partner networks to deliver end-to-end customer solutions

About You

You are an experienced Solution Architect or senior technical specialist with strong expertise in BMS, PLC or industrial automation systems, ideally within data centres or critical infrastructure environments. You bring a minimum of 5 years’ experience and an Electrical Engineering qualification (or equivalent industry background).

You have deep knowledge of building control systems, process automation and electrical infrastructure, including MV/LV distribution, UPS and backup systems. You are confident designing hybrid architectures that integrate electrical, automation and digital systems, and you enjoy solving complex technical challenges in collaboration with customers and internal teams.

Experience working with hyperscale, colocation or enterprise data centres will be highly regarded, along with familiarity with Siemens technologies.

Location

East Coast Australia, with preference for Sydney or Melbourne, however Brisbane will also be considered.
