The Regional and Fire Management Services Division's Operational Training Unit (OTU) designs, delivers and records operational training to meet the needs of the agency with a strong focus on regional delivery. The OTU also maintains the department’s capacity to offer nationally recognised training, eLearning solutions and accurate training records.

We currently have an opportunity for a Graduate Development Program (GDP) Coordinator to join our team.

Under the limited direction of the Capability Development Coordinator, this position:

  • Is responsible for the development, coordination and ongoing implementation of the Regional Fire Management Service Division’s Graduate Development Program (GDP), in consultation with stakeholders, to deliver outcomes consistent with the division’s objectives for succession planning.
  • Is responsible for coordinating marketing activities and campaigns to promote the GDP to graduates (TAFE and Universities).
  • Is responsible for the reporting and evaluation of the GDP against the program objectives for continual improvement to ensure the program remains contemporary.
  • Provides advice and support to managers and staff on a range of capability and development matters to promote and contribute to a competent and positive workplace.
  • Participates in the development, delivery and review of internal and external training and development opportunities and undertakes related project work with other initiatives and programs, as required.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following four (4) essential criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.

  1. Demonstrated project management experience in developing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating workforce planning projects, in a timely and effective manner to meet deadlines.
  2. Demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in leadership and people management, including coaching and mentoring individuals in their career development and experience in staff recruitment, development and supervision.
  3. Demonstrated experience in fostering and cultivating strong, productive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partnerships to deliver a program or project.
  4. Evidence of high-level oral communication and interpersonal skills including negotiation and problem solving in a complex environment and being able to adapt to changing priorities to meet objectives.
