Configuration Control and Publications Development Manager
Location: Newcastle, NSW
3 month contract
Role Overview
Responsible for Technical Data Controls, Configuration Management and expert advice on Technical Publications development and delivery within a complex Defence acquisition program. Operates under an Agile DevSecOps methodology. Requires adaptability, initiative and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Working across Government, Strategic Partner and key stakeholder groups to:
- Maintain the Master Technical Data Index (MTDI)
- Provide expert advice on Technical Publications development, compliant with S1000D and applicable Australian standards
- Contribute to strategic ILS planning to ensure timely delivery of capability and governance adherence
- Ensure technical data requirements across the system lifecycle are identified and solutions established
- Represent the program at Technical Data Management meetings, System Reviews, and ILS and FIC working groups
- Assess technical packages and processes and provide recommendations, ensuring safety aspects are incorporated into publications and artefacts
- Ensure technical data processes are captured in all relevant plans and artefacts including Support Concepts, Logistics Support Strategies, ILS Plans, FIC Coordination Plans and Transition Plans
- Support identification and management of ILS risks relating to technical and materiel data management
Initial Activities
- Collaborate with the Strategic Partner to improve integrated technical data management practices
- Ensure timely delivery of publications and technical data products meeting project and end user requirements
- Provide input into and Commonwealth approval of technical data artefacts through Program Increment (PI) Planning and execution
- Identify and manage program risks related to technical data
- Expand remit to support future Capability States with S1000D implementation
Reporting
- Fortnightly SITREPs covering achievements, status against the PI Plan, Risks and Opportunities
Skills and Experience
- Experience in Defence CASG, APS program and project roles, ADF capability development, or civilian engineering and product support disciplines
- Demonstrated success in technical data management in complex environments
- Ability to rapidly assimilate Defence Capability Systems concepts
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
- Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management ability
Requirements
- Security Clearance: NV2 (NV1 minimum)
- Location: Newcastle
- Hours: 40 per week
- Knowledge of S1000D and Agile development methodology desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field preferred
- No direct reports
