About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting and strengthening the ABC’s enterprise AI capabilities. The Enterprise AI Operations and Assurance Lead is responsible for the operational reliability, supportability and technical enablement of enterprise AI services across the organisation.

The role ensures enterprise AI tools, including user-built agents and approved integrations, are delivered and maintained as a scalable managed service. Acting as the primary “how do I fix it” function for AI operations, the position provides level 3 operational leadership across incidents, platform changes and technical escalations, while working closely with adoption, cyber security and governance teams.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the end-to-end operational management of enterprise AI capabilities, ensuring services are reliable, scalable and effectively supported.
  • Manage AI platform consumption, licensing and cost governance, monitoring usage, forecasting spends and identifying opportunities to optimise costs.
  • Ensure AI services operate in accordance with data residency, sovereignty and compliance requirements.
  • Provide technical evidence, operational context and risk assessments to support enterprise AI governance decisions.
  • Serve as the primary Level 3 escalation point for AI-related technical issues, including agent failures, integration issues, data access concerns and platform defects.
  • Develop and maintain operational readiness for AI services, including monitoring, logging, runbooks, incident response procedures and service management processes.
  • Coordinate AI platform configuration and feature enablement in line with approved governance, security and policy requirements.
  • Manage the operational impact of vendor platform updates and changes, including assessing risks, coordinating mitigation activities and communicating impacts to stakeholders.
  • Work in partnership with Cyber Security to ensure AI-specific security controls, monitoring capabilities and audit requirements are implemented and maintained.
  • Support the controlled implementation of approved connectors and data integrations, ensuring technical delivery aligns with governance decisions and frameworks.
  • Maintain operational oversight and visibility of shared AI assets, including enterprise and team agents, ensuring ownership, lifecycle management and support arrangements are clearly established.
  • Provide operational and technical advice to AI governance forums and executive stakeholders, translating technical risks and issues into clear business impacts and options.
  • Collaborate closely with AI Adoption Specialists to maintain clear separation between user enablement support and operational issue resolution responsibilities.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in information technology, engineering or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or managing multidisciplinary technical teams within complex environments.
  • Experience managing platform consumption, licensing or FinOps practices within cloud or SaaS environments.
  • Experience supporting audit, compliance or regulatory review activities for enterprise technology platforms.
  • Ability to build strategic relationships and influence stakeholders across technical, cyber security, policy and business domains.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and operating enterprise digital platforms or services within a complex organisational environment.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary AI technologies, automation concepts and agent-based systems, including associated operational and risk considerations.
  • Experience with enterprise identity management, access control frameworks and service configuration practices.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and innovation with a commitment to staying informed of emerging developments and contributing to the successful adoption of new technologies.
  • Proven experience managing incidents, problems and change processes using recognised service management methodologies and best practice.
  • Experience working with technology vendors, including issue management, escalation processes and roadmap coordination.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical, cyber security, policy and business stakeholder groups.
