About the Opportunity
With recent growth and expansion, including the announcement that Leed has entered into an agreement to join JN Bentley, the UK contracting arm of the global Mott MacDonald Group, we are seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (Generalist) to join our HR team, to support and drive people-focused initiatives across the Leed Group.
The Human Resources Business Partner will support the HR function as it moves into an important next stage, with a focus on improving systems, lifting manager capability, strengthening people programs, and reducing transactional workload through better processes and technology.
Reporting to the HR Manager, this role will work across HR systems, special projects, and be a true business partner, whilst being supported by a highly collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with leaders to provide HR support across the full range of employee lifecycle activities.
- Support site supervisors and project managers with workplace issues, conflict resolution, and fostering a positive culture across multiple sites and depots.
- Support the optimisation of our new HRIS platform (Employment Hero), including configuring and building systems workflow.
- Ensure day to day HR operations are effectively embedded into the new platform.
- Support organisational change initiatives and coach leaders through change and transformation.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, probation, performance review and employee development processes in a dispersed, project-driven workforce.
- Work with payroll, safety, finance, operations and workforce teams to support effective people outcomes culture across civil construction sites.
- Coordinate performance reviews for office and field-based employees, and supporting supervisors with managing performance in a dispersed, project-driven workforce.
- Ensure pay, conditions, and entitlements align with relevant enterprise agreements and awards, and the Fair Work Act, given the blue-collar/EA-heavy environment.
- Undertake ad hoc projects and initiatives as requested by the HR Manager or GM Corporate Services, supporting broader business and people strategy objectives.
About You
- A capable generalist HR professional who enjoys operational businesses (ideally within construction, civil contracting, or another blue-collar/industrial environment).
- Able to build trust with leaders, and have strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with site-based teams, supervisors, and corporate staff alike.
- Comfortable taking a on a project, breaking it down, and getting it delivered.
- Genuinely interested in supporting the optimisation of a new HRIS platform (Employment Hero).
- Sound understanding of relevant awards, the Fair Work Act, and experience navigating IR matters in a unionised or EA-driven workforce.
- Confident, clear communicator who can adapt their style across diverse audiences, from labourers on site to senior management.
- Practical, solutions-focused approach to employee relations issues and day-to-day HR challenges.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and compliance requirements across several sites and projects.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment and willing to travel to or support multiple site locations as needed.
- Experience using Employment Hero would be highly regarded but not essential.
