Head of Data Centre Operations
Siemens
As Australia's digital economy continues to accelerate, Siemens is playing a critical role in enabling the next generation of data centre infrastructure. Through our Electrification & Automation business, we deliver innovative power distribution, automation, digitalisation and energy solutions that help hyperscale, colocation and enterprise customers build resilient, sustainable and high-performing facilities.
With significant growth across the Australian data centre market, we are expanding our leadership team and seeking an exceptional Head of Data Centre Operations to build and scale our project delivery capability nationally. This is a rare opportunity to lead one of Siemens' fastest-growing market segments, driving operational excellence across a portfolio of complex, mission-critical infrastructure projects while shaping the future direction of our data centre business.
Sitting within our Electrification & Automation business and reporting at senior leadership level, you'll be accountable for building a high-performing organisation that delivers complex, large-scale data centre programs from end to end — driving delivery excellence, strong commercial outcomes, and exceptional customer experience.
This role is central to our growth strategy as we scale to meet the rapid expansion of the Australian data centre market and deepen our position as a trusted partner for hyperscale and colocation clients. Key responsibilities will be to:
- Define and execute the operational strategy for data centre project delivery across Australia, overseeing a portfolio of concurrent programs with full accountability for delivery, commercial, and customer outcomes
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing project organisation — including Project Directors, Project Managers, and Engineers — shaping structure, capability, and workforce planning to meet current and future demand
- Establish governance frameworks, delivery models, and operational standards that drive consistency, efficiency, and scalability across all projects
- Own senior client relationships across key strategic accounts, leading high-value commercial engagements including contract negotiations, variations, and dispute resolution
- Partner with Sales and Business Development to support market expansion, bid strategy, and solution positioning
- Leverage digital tools, data analytics, and automation to continuously improve project execution and operational performance
- Champion a zero-harm safety culture, ensuring full compliance with Siemens and Australian regulatory standards
You'll have proven experience in a senior operations or program leadership role within the data centre, utilities, or mission-critical infrastructure sector, with a strong background in electrification, MV/LV power systems, and digital infrastructure. You're commercially sharp, with experience managing P&L, contracts, and risk across large EPC or integrated delivery environments, and you have a deep understanding of the Australian data centre market and its regulatory landscape. A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or Project Management is required; an MBA is desirable.
You think beyond individual projects to build long-term organisational value. You develop and inspire high-performing teams, build lasting client partnerships, and thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments. You communicate with influence across executives, clients, and geographically dispersed teams — and you hold yourself accountable for portfolio outcomes.
A strong network across the Australian data centre ecosystem — spanning hyperscale providers, colocation operators, Tier 1 contractors, and engineering consultants — will be a significant advantage in this role.
