General Manager

General Manager | Fresh Food Manufacturing | Melbourne Multi-Site | Salary Negotiable

We are working exclusively with a an established and growing Australian fresh food manufacturer to appoint a General Manager.

The business manufactures fresh Asian food products supplied into major QSR and retail channels nationally, operating across multiple manufacturing sites with a combined headcount of approximately 80 staff.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the GM holds full operational accountability across all sites - driving performance against financial, quality, and customer commitments while leading a team of direct reports spanning operations, NPD & QA, supply chain, customer service, and commercial functions.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, short shelf-life food environment and is comfortable operating in a growing, entrepreneurial business alongside an engaged and ambitious Board.

What You'll Be Accountable For

• Full P&L management across all manufacturing sites
• Operational performance - DIFOT, labour efficiency, COGS, and waste
• SQF certification and food safety compliance across all sites
• Leading and developing a high-performing leadership team
• Capital project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives
• Supporting key account relationships with major QSR and retail customers

About You

• 10+ years in food manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years at senior management level
• Proven P&L accountability and strong financial literacy
• Multi-site or multi-function leadership experience
• Solid food safety systems knowledge - SQF, HACCP, or equivalent
• Comfortable operating in a growth-oriented, owner-influenced business environment
• Experience in chilled or fresh food manufacturing highly regarded
