Currently, we're looking for an AML/CTF Compliance Officer to join our team at one of our portfolio companies, our crypto company in the Australian market.
This is a part time opportunity. Role allows a flexible remote model.
Note: under the AML/CTF Act, the appointed officer must ordinarily be a resident in Australia.
Your Role & Impact
As our Compliance Officer, you won’t just be ticking boxes – you will be the guardian of our financial integrity and a key partner in our growth. You will take full ownership of our AML/CTF program, ensuring our crypto venture scales safely and successfully.
What You’ll Do Day-to-day
- Be the Anchor: Act as the appointed AML/CTF Compliance Officer, leading the day-to-day operations under the AML/CTF Act 2006 and the 2025 Rules.
- Drive Compliance: Manage AUSTRAC regulatory requirements (enrolment, registration, and reporting) to support our business strategy.
- Mitigate Risks: Identify, assess, and manage ML/TF/PF risks, keeping our enterprise-wide risk assessment sharp and up-to-date.
- Shape Policies: Create, implement, and maintain clear AML/CTF policies. You’ll keep our central policy repository organized and ensure everything aligns perfectly with the Act.
- Oversee Operations: Keep a close eye on customer due diligence (CDD), transaction monitoring, and report submissions to AUSTRAC (including SMRs, TTRs, and Travel Rule obligations for virtual assets).
- Be the Voice: Report to our governing body at least once a year and act as the main point of contact for external stakeholders like AUSTRAC and partner banks.
Who You Are
We are looking for a proactive professional who combines deep compliance expertise with a collaborative mindset.
Our Ideal Candidate Has
- The Experience: Previous hands-on experience as an AML/CTF Compliance Officer or MLRO.
- The Right Setup: You are an Australian resident, ready to be appointed at the management level and meet AUSTRAC’s "fit and proper" criteria (integrity, competence, and sound judgment are a must!).
- The Background: A University degree in Finance, Law, or a related field.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid policy governance experience in fintech, banking, payments, or – ideally – the crypto/virtual assets space.
- A Collaborative Spirit: A proven ability to work with cross-functional partners, bridge gaps, and bring people together to make mutually beneficial decisions.
- A Holistic Risk View: Experience across the broader risk lifecycle (issue management, control testing, audit responses, or product policy reviews).
What’s in it for you?
- Real Flexibility: Work from home with a flexible remote model that fits your lifestyle.
- Innovation-Driven Culture: Dive deep into the fast-paced world of crypto and blockchain, backed by the stability and expertise of an experienced venture builder.
- Growth: A chance to truly shape the compliance framework of a growing business from the ground up.
