About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Paediatrician to join a leading Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) focused on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
Working within a multidisciplinary research team, you will provide specialist clinical expertise across a range of research projects, helping to bridge the gap between research and clinical practice. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant research aimed at improving assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and service delivery for children and families affected by FASD.
- provide a clinical lens to FASD research projects and initiatives.
- contribute to the review and development of clinical learning resources and training modules aligned with updated FASD diagnostic guidelines.
- support research relating to assessment and diagnostic pathways, genetics, metabolic disorders, and emerging intervention approaches.
- contribute to the evaluation of outreach and diagnostic services, including research examining patient outcomes, referral pathways, and service delivery models.
- collaborate with researchers, clinicians, and stakeholders across a broad portfolio of projects.
- assist in the preparation of publications, reports, presentations, and other research outputs.
About you
You are an experienced and collaborative Paediatrician with a strong interest in research and a commitment to improving outcomes for children and families affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and related neurodevelopmental conditions.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Medical qualifications and current registration as a Paediatrician.
- Demonstrated experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and complex neurodevelopmental conditions.
- A minimum of three years' clinical experience working within multidisciplinary diagnostic and assessment settings.
- Strong knowledge of genetics, metabolic disorders, and differential diagnosis relevant to neurodevelopmental presentations.
- The ability to apply clinical expertise to research, translating evidence into meaningful improvements in practice, policy, and service delivery.
- Experience contributing to clinical, translational, or health services research, including involvement in research projects, publications, reports, presentations, or quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting the development of clinical guidelines, educational resources, or workforce training programs.
- An interest in emerging and innovative approaches to FASD intervention, management, and service delivery.
- A demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and advancing knowledge in the field of FASD and neurodevelopmental health.
