Aboriginal Health and Engagement Program | Monash Health
Monash Health is seeking a passionate and community-connected Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Promotion Worker to join our Aboriginal Health Community team on a 12-month fixed term basis.
This role is an Aboriginal Designated Position under Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
About the Role
The Aboriginal Health Promotion Worker plays a key role in supporting community-led, culturally safe, and strengths-based health promotion initiatives for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Working in partnership with Elders, community members, ACCOs and multidisciplinary teams, you will help improve health and wellbeing outcomes through culturally grounded approaches that reflect self-determination, respect, and community leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver community-led health promotion activities
Support yarning circles, workshops and community events
Build strong relationships with Aboriginal communities and organisations
Contribute to program planning, evaluation and reporting
Collaborate across Monash Health to embed culturally safe practice
About You
You will bring
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity with strong community connection
Experience in Aboriginal health, health promotion or community development
Understanding of cultural, social and historical determinants of health
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to work collaboratively across teams
