About the role and our department

The GV Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICYMHWS) provides mental health assessment, consultation, treatment, care and support to individuals under the age of 25 years along with their families, carers and supporters. The service is staffed by committed and compassionate multidisciplinary professionals, who are well supported through supervision and training opportunities.

The Group-Based Parenting Program (GBPP) is a newly created service. Parents, carers and supporters of children aged 0-11 years and accessing ICYMHWS will be provided with advanced group programs to strengthen individual and family challenges. The GBPP Clinician is responsible for working with the GBPP Senior Clinician and the GBPP Family Peer Worker to develop group-based parenting programs which are organised around age/developmental stage to ensure sessions are appropriate to the needs of parent, carers and supporters. Co-facilitation of group programs may be focussed in areas such as strengthening family relationships, managing challenging and risky behaviour and attachment-based parenting programs

Successful candidate will have

Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Psychology or Occupational Therapy

Experience and expertise in the provision of parenting interventions, particularly for those with children experiencing challenging and risky behaviour.

Experience and expertise in group facilitation.
