The Role
As the Team Leader – Project Management Office , you will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Council’s Project Management Framework (PMF), driving best-practice, governance and performance across a diverse portfolio of capital projects.
Reporting to the Executive Manager City Plan and Infrastructure , you will lead a small team and work collaboratively across the organisation to provide clear oversight of Council’s project portfolio. You will support effective prioritisation, strengthen governance and improve project management maturity to ensure projects deliver on strategic objectives and community outcomes.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence how projects are planned, prioritised and delivered across the organisation while building capability and driving continuous improvement.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Lead the development, implementation and management of the Project Management Office and its supporting frameworks.
- Provide whole-of-Council oversight of the capital works program, supporting prioritisation, governance and performance management.
- Enable informed decision making by providing robust reporting and insights to the Executive Leadership Team and Project Control Groups.
- Ensure the adequacy and quality of project planning across scope, scheduling, risk, dependencies and resource management.
- Drive project governance, quality assurance and change frameworks to ensure projects meet cost, scope, quality and time objectives.
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team to deliver consistent and best-practice project outcomes.
- Foster strong collaboration and communication across the organisation to improve visibility and coordination of project portfolios.

You will have
- Relevant degree in project management, business, strategy or similar.
- Experience leading teams to deliver outcomes in complex environments.
- Proven PMO leadership experience (establishment or uplift)
- Strong stakeholder engagement, including Executive and senior leaders.
- Solid expertise across core project disciplines (scope, schedule, cost, risk).
- Demonstrated capability in problem solving, negotiation and influence.
- Experience driving continuous improvement and organisational change.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $126,229 (Grade J, Step 1) + 12% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
