The opportunity

This is a genuine career-building role for someone seeking real-world exposure in client-side project delivery. You will support the successful delivery of meaningful projects that enhance university facilities while developing your technical, commercial, and stakeholder management skills under expert mentorship. The position is flexible and can be structured from 3 days per week (part-time) up to full-time, depending on your study commitments and the right candidate profile.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Support Project Managers and Senior Project Managers on commissions, including design coordination, procurement, programming, stakeholder engagement, and construction oversight.
  • Assist with project governance, risk management, cost reporting, variation assessment, and client-side contract administration.
  • Contribute to project documentation, meeting coordination, site inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Engage directly with stakeholders, consultants, and contractors in a live operational campus environment.
  • Participate in internal knowledge sharing and professional development aligned with Mace’s Career Framework.

You’ll need to have

  • Currently enrolled in your 3rd or 4th year Construction Management (or equivalent) at the University of Newcastle.
  • Good academic record with a genuine interest in project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full Australian driver’s license (or working towards) and willingness to work on sites.
  • Hard-working, driven, and motivated to build a long-term career in client-side project management.
  • Eagerness to learn Mace’s global standards, tools, and best practices in a supportive team environment.
