Practice Group Manager – Workers Compensation

We're seeking an experienced Workers Compensation leader to drive performance, capability and service excellence across a multidisciplinary claims practice within the Victorian WorkCover scheme.

Leading through Team Managers, you'll be responsible for delivering strong operational outcomes, developing high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and customer focus.

What You'll Be Doing

As Practice Group Manager, you will:

  • Lead and develop a large workers compensation claims team through a group of Team Managers and technical specialists

  • Drive performance across claims management, injury management, return to work, quality, customer experience and scheme outcomes

  • Use operational data and insights to identify trends, manage risk and implement targeted improvement initiatives

  • Build leadership capability through coaching, mentoring and performance development

  • Foster strong relationships with WorkSafe, employers, providers and internal stakeholders to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes

  • Lead change initiatives that simplify processes, improve consistency and enhance the experience of injured workers and employers

  • Ensure strong governance, compliance and decision-making while contributing to the broader strategic direction of the business

About You

You are an accomplished workers compensation leader with a proven ability to lead leaders and inspire high-performing teams. You bring a strategic mindset, strong commercial acumen and a genuine passion for developing people and improving customer outcomes.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Extensive leadership experience within the Victorian Workers Compensation scheme

  • A strong understanding of claims management, injury management and return to work principles

  • Demonstrated success in improving operational performance through coaching, data-driven decision making and continuous improvement

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility across internal and external partners

  • The ability to navigate complexity, drive change and create a culture of accountability, collaboration and service excellence

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, management, health, law, injury management or a related discipline will be highly regarded
