The Role
We are currently seeking Laboratory Technician to join the laboratory team based at our Lenah Valley site!
The Lenah Valley site, approximately 15 minutes from the Hobart CBD, manufactures more than 50 milk, milk based and cream products using fresh Tasmanian milk. With around 50 employees and annual production of approximately 33 million litres, the site offers the scale of a regulated manufacturing operation alongside the lifestyle benefits of living in Hobart, including short commutes, amazing food and strong cultural identity.
This is a full-time permanent position in our lab to complete routine laboratory functions to ensure our milk products meet quality standards. This role works within a dynamic team, has challenging tasks and good environment and opportunities for continual professional and personal development. This position will be responsible for ensuring all duties are carried out in an effective, efficient, and timely manner.
This role will work on day shift, 6 days on, 6 days off with Sundays always off. This position is on 12-hour shifts, 6am start to 6pm finish.
Responsibilities
Coordinate & execute the day to day operations in the quality laboratory including: physical/chemical/microbial testing of raw materials, intermediate and finish product, antibiotic testing of raw milk, media preparation, daily maintenance/ calibration and service of instruments
Drive the site environmental swabbing programme and associated corrective actions
Maintain cost effective and sustainable operations through continuous improvement initiatives and follow up of non-conforming events
Monitor and report KPI related to quality.
Maintain, implement, and monitor laboratory quality systems and adhere to Good Lab practices.
About you
Tertiary qualification in a scientific or related discipline (Food Science would be preferable).
Experience working in a microbiology or chemical lab would be beneficial.
Strong data entry skills and experience in Microsoft Office Package including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SAP or similar software highly regarded.
Demonstrate strong time management and prioritisation skills
Commitment to making safety a priority and leading a safety-first culture within the team and across the site.
