The role (Risk Account Manager - Direct )

This role is responsible for generating new business opportunities from a large, existing member base; and retaining existing business by adding value to the members through the provision of a proactive and personalised account management experience for the Capricorn Mutual product and insurance broking side of our business. The Mutual product is kind of like insurance, but different. Think of it as an alternative to insurance!

What you’ll do

  • Promote the organisation’s products, services, and events to ensure sales and budget requirements are met.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for members, providing general advice and responsive support.
  • Build strong member relationships through outbound phone-based interactions to support retention and portfolio uplift.
  • Drive new business growth through prospecting, lead generation and conversion activity.
  • Manage and retain a portfolio of existing member’s, including end-to-end renewals in-line with agreed timelines and service levels.
  • Generate and present tailored insurance quotes aligned to member needs and business requirements through Capricorn Mutual Limited (CML) and promote other insurance services offered by Capricorn Insurance Services (CIS).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to quote, amend, and finalise policies.
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets in your assigned territory.
  • Work autonomously while staying connected with a collaborative, high-performing team.
  • Follow up referred leads in a timely manner.
  • Proactively identify, support, and assist Members who need to make a complaint and manage that complaint in line with the risk division of complaints procedures and internal dispute resolution requirements.
  • Attend Capricorn events relative to assigned regions as well as zone-based dinner and tradeshows.
  • Strive to achieve and promote the values of Capricorn’s culture when liaising with Members.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong time management and organisational skills – you know how to prioritise and deliver.
  • Confidence in working independently and solving problems on the fly.
  • A natural communicator with a flair for building rapport and trust.
  • Commercial acumen and a passion for sales and marketing.
  • A team player who shares knowledge and celebrates success.
  • Experience in insurance, preferably in account management.
  • RG 146 Tier 1 qualification.
