Right now, we’re looking for a passionate and engaging Youth Engagement Officer to join our team at The Base. This casual position is ideal for someone who enjoys building genuine connections with young people, creating inclusive environments where they feel safe and supported, and delivering meaningful activities that encourage participation, confidence and wellbeing.

Availability is required for afternoon and evening shifts, typically between 2:30pm and 6:30pm, with opportunities for additional daytime hours as required.

What you’ll be doing

As our Youth Engagement Officer, you'll support young people in our drop-in space, building positive relationships and creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment. You'll assist with the delivery of engaging youth programs, activities and events, while also having opportunities to contribute ideas and help plan future programs based on the interests and needs of young people. Working alongside the wider Youth Services team, you'll play an important role in encouraging participation, promoting positive behaviour and supporting young people to build confidence, resilience and social connections.

You’ll be great in this role if you…

  • Have a qualification in Youth Work, Education, Community Work, Social Work or other relevant discipline and equivalent experience
  • Can demonstrate the ability to engage with young people and work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Are aware of and can adhere to the Youth Work Code of Ethics.
  • Understand and can adhere to the WA Youth Work code of ethics
  • Can obtain National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
  • Can obtain a HLTAID011 First Aid certificate
  • Can obtain a Food Handling/Safety Certificate (Desirable)
