Job description
- Location: Canberra ACT, Adelaide SA, Melbourne VIC
- Initial Contract: 12 months contract + 2 X 12 months extension
- Must be an Australian Citizen with an active Baseline clearance
FinXL is seeking a results-driven Test Manager with specialised skills in test governance, resource management, and large-scale delivery. In this role, you will provide end-to-end testing leadership across a major federal government technology ecosystem. This position has a strong focus on defining testing strategies, driving high-quality testing processes, and ensuring that complex ICT services are fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the timely delivery of complex testing outcomes and govern the overarching quality of testing processes across the program.
- Lead and support the operations of the testing team, including workload prioritisation, resource allocation, and monitoring performance against KPIs.
- Plan, develop, and manage complex test cases across various testing stages and platforms, while defining technical requirements for test environments.
- Provide definitive, expert advice on testing methodologies and tools, tailoring processes to align with organisational standards and policies.
- Identify, analyse, manage, and report on trends relating to defects, programming errors, and operational non-compliance.
- Partner and collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership and external software vendors, to achieve project objectives.
- Build team capability and engagement through proactive knowledge sharing, mentoring, and coaching
Technical Skill & Experience
- Extensive demonstrated experience working as a Test Manager within large, complex ICT environments.
- Deep expertise in developing test policies, managing risks, and leading strategic, large-scale testing activities (aligned with SFIA Level 6 Testing).
- Strong working knowledge and practical experience with ITIL processes and tools.
- Demonstrated experience in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Management (QM), including conducting formal process assessments and driving continuous improvements.
- Proven capability in planning and managing acceptance testing activities, ensuring scenarios reflect realistic operational conditions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide authoritative advice, resolve conflicts, and translate technical quality metrics for key stakeholders.
