About the role
Murmuk Marra means "Working for mob" in Woi-wurrung language.
This role offers a meaningful opportunity to work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders, and organisations to strengthen connection, culture, and community outcomes within Moonee Valley.
Reporting to the Coordinator First Peoples Reconciliation, you will support the design and delivery of culturally safe programs, events and partnerships that reflect community priorities and uphold the principles of self-determination, respect and collaboration.
Position responsibilities
- Build strong, respectful relationships with Elders, Traditional Owners and First Peoples communities
- Support the delivery of key events such as NAIDOC Week and Reconciliation Week
- Work alongside community to co-design programs, initiatives and partnerships
- Advocate for First Peoples perspectives across Council
- Identify opportunities to strengthen networks, partnerships and funding outcomes
- Contribute to a culturally safe and inclusive environment across Council
About you
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations or networks
- Understands the principles of Reconciliation and self-determination
- Can engage respectfully with community, stakeholders and colleagues
- Has experience delivering community-based programs, events or initiatives
- Communicates clearly and works collaboratively
Lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is highly valued.
