ACSI supports members in exercising active ownership which enhances the long-term value of retirement savings entrusted to them to manage. ACSI members can achieve value for their beneficiaries through genuine and permanent improvements to the sustainability practices of the companies in which they invest.

About the Role

This position is responsible for supporting ACSI’s long-term goal of achieving measurable improvements in the corporate governance practices of the companies in which their members invest. As part of ACSI’s growing team, the Analyst, Policy and Research will contribute to our policy and research work.

ACSI operates a hybrid office model and staff typically work 50 per cent of their time in the office. Other flexible arrangements can be discussed with suitable candidates.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Monitoring key international and local policy developments, inquiries and reports that relate to ACSI’s work, providing briefings for ACSI management and members
  • Support the coordination and execution of ACSI’s research program across the team with effective project planning and project management
  • Draft research briefs, policy submissions, governance papers and member communication materials on key policy issues.
  • Develop briefing materials for engagement with policy makers.
  • Contribute to thematic research projects through effective peer review
  • Support other areas of ACSI’s activities.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a keen interest in improving the governance, transparency and sustainability in investment markets and individual companies.
  • Tertiary qualification in law, social sciences, business, commerce, or another related discipline.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, with the capacity to produce written reports and papers in a user-friendly style.
  • Ability to take responsibility for tasks/projects to ensure they are completed thoroughly, with attention to detail and on time.
  • Ability to work across teams within a small organisation with a flexible, cooperative approach.
  • Familiarity with financially material ESG and sustainability issues and current policy challenges in the Australian market.
  • Experience and strong interest in the area of public policy, corporate governance or sustainability.
  • Ability to undertake research, critically analyse and draw information together.
  • Demonstrated excellent organisational, self and priority management skills.
