Cyber Security Engineer

We're looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join a team responsible for securing one of WA's most important healthcare environments.
What you'll be doing
You'll play a key role in strengthening and maturing the organisation's cyber capability by:
- Managing and improving security platforms including SIEM, endpoint protection and vulnerability management tools.
- Supporting and enhancing cloud security across AWS and Azure environments.
- Conducting security risk assessments and cloud security reviews for new solutions and projects.
- Driving compliance with the ACSC Essential Eight and ASD Information Security Manual (ISM).
- Identifying vulnerabilities, recommending remediation activities and improving security controls.
- Providing technical guidance and acting as an escalation point for the Cyber Security Analyst team.
- Working closely with infrastructure, applications and project teams to embed security into everything we do.
- Contributing to security governance, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
About you - You'll bring
- Experience in a Cyber Security Engineer, Security Consultant or Senior Security Analyst role.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Splunk, Microsoft Defender, Rapid7, Tenable or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of security governance frameworks, particularly the ACSC Essential Eight and ASD ISM.
- Experience with cloud security within AWS and/or Azure environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
- The ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A genuine passion for cyber security and staying ahead of emerging threats.
Certifications in cloud security, security tooling or broader cyber disciplines will be highly regarded.
