About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join a large Victorian Government transport organisation within the Finance Division. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments, ensuring compliance with trading terms, financial controls, and audit requirements. You will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of accounts payable processes and supporting broader finance operations as required.
Responsibilities
* Ensure timely payment of suppliers in line with agreed trading terms
* Accurately code and process invoices against appropriate cost centres and accounts
* Perform purchase order matching and resolve discrepancies
* Reconcile supplier statements and maintain accurate work batches
* Support integrity of financial data through batch checking and control processes
* Reconcile GRNI and GINR accounts and investigate variances
* Liaise with internal stakeholders and managers to resolve invoice and payment queries
* Ensure compliance with audit and financial control requirements
* Assist with month-end processes and provide support to the Assistant Financial Accountant as required
About You
You are a detail-focused finance professional with strong accounts payable experience and a solid understanding of financial controls and reconciliation processes. You enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment and building effective stakeholder relationships.
To be successful, you will bring:
- 3-5 years' experience in Accounts Payable and general accounting functions
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce or Accounting (CPA/CA studies desirable)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, GL controls, and reconciliations
- Experience with Oracle JDE ERP system
- Exposure to OCR invoice processing systems
- High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
