Internal Auditor

BOQ Group

About The Role

As an Internal Auditor, you’ll play an important role in bringing BOQ Group’s Internal Audit Plan to life—supporting the delivery of high-quality, risk-focused audits that genuinely add value. Working within a structured methodology, you’ll be hands-on in audit fieldwork, assessing how effectively risk management practices and controls are designed and operating across the business.

What makes this role particularly exciting is the breadth of exposure. You’ll work across a diverse range of business areas, building a holistic view of how the organisation operates, while contributing independent, objective insights that strengthen governance and support better business outcomes.

Day-to-day, you’ll be involved in audit planning and execution, including walkthroughs, process mapping, and testing activities. You’ll gather and evaluate evidence, identify control gaps or exceptions, and work closely with stakeholders to validate findings and understand root causes. Your ability to translate insights into clear, practical recommendations will be key in shaping meaningful outcomes.

You’ll also contribute to audit reporting and issue management, drafting clear and concise outputs and supporting the tracking of remediation actions through to closure. Beyond delivery, there’s a strong focus on continuous improvement—you’ll have the opportunity to enhance audit tools and approaches, explore the use of analytics, and continue building your capability as a well-rounded audit professional. This is a role where you can grow your expertise quickly, while making a tangible impact across the organisation.

About You

You’ll bring a relevant qualification in accounting, finance, business, commerce, economics or similar, along with some exposure to audit, risk, compliance, finance or operational environments. Whether this has come through a graduate programme or early career experience, you’re ready to build on a solid foundation and deepen your understanding of risk, controls and the broader banking environment.

You have a natural curiosity and a genuine interest in how things work, paired with a strong analytical mindset. You’re comfortable interrogating information, identifying patterns or anomalies, and documenting your thinking clearly. Just as importantly, you’re confident engaging with stakeholders—communicating in a way that is professional, considered and easy to understand.

You manage your time well, balance competing priorities, and take ownership of your work. With high levels of integrity and discretion, you’re trusted to handle sensitive information appropriately. You’re also someone who is proactive about your development—whether that’s progressing towards a CA, CPA or CIA qualification, or continuously building your capability in areas like data analytics, AI or automation.

You’re confident using Office 365 tools and are open to exploring new ways of working, particularly where technology can enhance audit outcomes. Most of all, you bring a positive, learning mindset and a genuine desire to contribute to a team that plays a critical role in strengthening the organisation.
