Salary: Up to AUD 170,000 (commensurate with experience, technical assessment, and demonstrated capability)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Control Systems Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team in Darwin, Australia. This role offers the opportunity to work on industrial automation and control system projects involving PLC programming, SCADA development, electrical design, and site commissioning activities across various process industries.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation systems, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement industrial control and automation systems.
• Program, configure, and troubleshoot:
• Allen-Bradley Logix Systems
• Schneider PLCs
• Develop, configure, and support SCADA systems, including:
• Citect/AVEVA
• FactoryTalk View SE (FT View SE)
• Ignition
• Design network topologies and configure industrial communication networks, including Layer 2 (L2) and Layer 3 (L3) architectures.
• Design electrical control schematics and I/O layouts.
• Prepare and maintain functional descriptions, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) documentation.
• Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Electrical Schematics
• Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
• Identify and integrate electrical and process equipment into automation systems.
• Perform site commissioning activities, including:
• Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
• Process instrumentation
• Field devices and equipment
• PLC code verification and I/O testing
• Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues during project execution and commissioning.
• Communicate project progress, technical findings, and recommendations clearly and accurately to stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley Logix platforms and Schneider PLCs.
• Experience designing and implementing SCADA solutions using Citect/AVEVA, FactoryTalk View SE, and/or Ignition.
• Sound understanding of industrial networking principles, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 network configurations.
• Proficiency in reading and developing electrical and process documentation.
• Experience in commissioning industrial automation systems and field equipment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute positively to project outcomes.
