Data Analyst

Our client, based in Melbourne, is looking for a Data Analyst to work closely with teams to understand their data, guide them through data preparation and proceed to transform the data into a prescribed format.

The role blends hands-on data work with stakeholder engagement, problem solving, and continuous improvement of data processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute data migration activities, ensuring data is accurately gathered, validated, cleansed, and transformed for import into the new solution.
  • Partner with branch teams to understand local data structures, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and provide guidance on data preparation.
  • Develop and maintain data mapping documents, transformation rules, and quality standards to support a smooth migration process.
  • Perform detailed data analysis to extract the required data, transform the data into a prescribed format, cleanse the data by ensuring it conforms to the requirements of the target application.
  • Gather information from the related mapping, ensuring that multiple sectors can be configured accurately
  • Collaborate with IT, project teams, and business stakeholders to troubleshoot data issues and ensure alignment with project timelines.

  • Comfortable working with diverse stakeholders, including non‑technical staff.
  • Detail oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple data streams simultaneously.
  • Patience to accurately complete detailed tasks
  • Proactive, collaborative, and adaptable in a changing project environment.

Desirable skills & experience

  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, data cleansing, and data migration projects.
  • Proficiency with tools that support data extractions, transformation, cleansing and loading work.
  • Experience working with relational databases and understanding of data modelling principles.
  • Geospatial shape creation and editing
  • Good understanding of data quality frameworks, validation techniques, and reconciliation processes.
  • Experience supporting end users or branch teams through data related change initiatives.
  • Knowledge of project methodologies (Agile or Waterfall) and experience working within project teams.
