about this team

The DC People + Culture Partner will work closely with all people managers and employees based at our Melbourne DC to accomplish business objectives through the application of thoughtful, intentional and innovative people support. They act as a People and Culture expert delivering frontline counsel and guidance in all areas of the people lifecycle. This role reports into the People + Culture Manager AuNZ and supports all roles within Global Fulfillment/Distribution based within the AuNZ market. Whilst this role will predominantly support the DC, working within the P+C team means working in an agile and dynamic manner, partnering with other business functions and projects as required, and collaborating with local and global stakeholders.

a day in the life

  • Provide effective and timely first line P+C support and counsel, predominantly to Distribution Centre employees and leaders. This includes inquiries on various P+C related topics including assisting to interpret defined P+C policies and procedures.
  • Support DC leaders through coaching for performance improvement and the Performance Improvement process
  • Provide coaching and advice to DC leaders on ER/IR cases, career development, recruitment practices, succession planning, compensation and performance management, diversity + inclusion and other human resource practices.
  • Ensure that all Service Now tickets are responded to and closed within the SLA specified.
  • In partnership with the P+C Manager and People Practices team, enable compliance for all corporate policies + procedures, local national + state laws and corporate P+C related matters with support for proactively researching requirements.
  • In partnership with the Asset Protection team and Health + Safety Specialist, support the injury management, accommodation, return to work planning, and workers compensation processes.
  • Validate and confirm that all P+C administrative forms/systems are correctly completed by managers with appropriate approvals, and regularly create and maintain employee records in Workday.
  • Ensure that all Workday people transactions and reporting is completed in a timely manner along with general P+C administration management in partnership with People Experiences support team.
  • Support the P+C Manager with delivery of annual people programs including Pace, Mid-Year compensation review and promotion exercises and bonus programs.
  • Support delivery of the employee pulse survey and provide advice to DC leadership to identify, develop and implement action plans.
  • Conduct exit interviews to identify issues in the team/department and provide recommendation on action plans for improvement. Monitor and report on trends.
  • Manage employee pulse processes, monitor employee engagement and provide advice and recommendation on action plans to build on strengths and address areas of dissatisfaction.
  • As required in partnership with the P+C Manager and people practices, support/lead investigations regarding violations of our company’s standards of conduct etc.
  • Partner with the Learning + Leadership team to create and facilitate relevant training to ensure employees understand their responsibilities around P+C matters.
  • Works closely with unions on site by building strong, trust-based relationships and acting as a key point of contact for employee matters. They consult on changes, manage disputes, support Enterprise Agreement application, and ensure compliance while balancing business needs and employee outcomes.
  • Uses data (both qualitative and quantitative) to recommend improvements to our people processes, and employee experience.

qualifications

  • Qualification in Human Resource Management.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Good organizational and conflict management skills.
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to multitask
  • Decision-making skills with a solid understanding of employee relationships, people management
  • Knowledge of P+C functions and best practices.
  • Strong IR experience dealing with unions.
  • Enterprise agreement experience
  • Understanding of Labor Law and employment regulations.
  • Experience managing employee records (HRIS)
  • Personal responsibility to see issues through to resolution and meticulous attention to detail.

work arrangement

In-person collaboration and/or office-based work is necessary or important for the role. Work is mainly performed onsite, 4-5 days per week depending on role requirements.
