ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Commercial Director to join our leadership team in Sydney.

The primary purpose of the Commercial Director role is to lead the commercial function across a diverse portfolio of environmental Remediation and Water projects, providing strategic commercial leadership, contractual oversight and risk management expertise to support business growth and operational excellence.

The successful individual for this role will demonstrate exceptional leadership, commercial acumen and strategic thinking capabilities. They will be a strong communicator with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the business and with external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing commercial strategy aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Leading contract review and negotiation to ensure risk and compliance alignment.
  • Managing high-value contract administration across clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Overseeing procurement, tenders, subcontractor selection and cost optimisation.
  • Leading risk management, claims and dispute resolution.
  • Acting as the escalation point for commercial disputes and negotiations.
  • Leading and mentoring commercial teams across the business.
  • Supporting project teams to ensure contract compliance and successful delivery.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an experienced and commercially astute Commercial Director who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking to play a key leadership role within a growing and successful organisation.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law or a Master of Construction Law.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in senior Commercial Management positions within the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, contract negotiation and corporate governance.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience advising senior and executive management teams.
  • The ability to navigate complex commercial issues, including environmental regulations and corporate governance requirements.
  • Strong planning, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • A professional demeanour and the ability to build strong and collaborative working relationships.
