Surveyor
Symal Group
Surveyor – Civil Infrastructure | Brisbane Region
Bring precision surveying to Queensland’s major civil infrastructure projects — shaping roads, drainage, and earthworks that communities rely on.
At Symal, your work doesn’t sit in the background — it directly delivers what gets built.
We’re looking for a surveyor with 2–3 years’ experience to join our growing civil surveying team delivering major infrastructure projects across Brisbane and surrounds. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be out on site regularly, contributing to real construction outcomes across a strong pipeline of ongoing work.
What’s On Offer
- Fully maintained company vehicle + fuel card + eTag
- Mobile phone provided
- 5-day work week (mix of office and site-based work across Brisbane & surrounds)
- Strong pipeline of long-term civil infrastructure projects
- Genuine career progression within a major self-performing contractor
About Symal
We’re Symal — a proudly different group of companies and one of Australia’s leading self-performing civil contractors.
We innovate with intent, solving complex problems and delivering better outcomes for our partners, communities, and people. That’s what has driven our growth — and what continues to shape our future.
It’s not just what we do that defines us, it’s how we do it: building better together.
The role
As a Surveyor at Symal Contractors, you’ll deliver accurate and reliable surveying services across a range of civil infrastructure projects, including:
- TMR roadworks and transport infrastructure
- Stormwater systems and drainage upgrades
- Bulk earthworks and subdivision work
You’ll work across both field and office environments, supporting construction delivery through set-out, as-built, control, and conformance surveying, while producing high-quality reporting, models, and volume calculations using industry-leading software.
Your everyday
- Set-out, as-built, and conformance surveys across civil sites
- Set out of grids, stormwater alignments, roadworks, and earthworks
- Operate Trimble / Topcon GPS, total stations, and machine control systems
- Produce digital terrain models, volumes, and survey reports using AutoCAD & Trimble Business Centre
- Interpret IFC drawings and collaborate with engineers and site teams
- Support safe delivery of works in line with SWMS and quality systems
- Manage survey data, registers, and project documentation
What We Are Looking For
- 2–3 years’ surveying experience in civil construction or infrastructure
- Experience with Topcon or similar surveying platforms (desirable)
- Strong understanding of civil construction set out and as-built surveying
- Ability to work both independently and within site-based project teams
- Current Queensland Driver’s Licence
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
Why this role
This is an opportunity to step into a fast-paced civil contractor environment where your surveying work directly supports project delivery — not just documentation.
You’ll be part of a supportive team, exposed to major infrastructure projects, and given real opportunities to grow your career within a business that is actively expanding.
