The Role
Join our Commercial and Portfolio Management Office as we shape how Yarra Valley Water partners with technology suppliers to deliver essential services to our community.
In this role, you'll manage and administer our procurement and contract services for the Service Futures (Technology) group - working collaboratively with stakeholders to get positive commercial outcomes. You'll have the opportunity to build on your solid expertise in procurement frameworks and policies, while helping shape how we operate and improve our procurement processes.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Conduct procurement in accordance with Victorian Government and internal procurement policies and processes to meet business objectives, whilst ensuring the relevant standards are adhered to.
- Work closely with the Contract and Commercial Specialist and other stakeholders to manage contract extension and renewals for existing supplier contracts. This includes licensing, labour hire and consulting engagements.
- Manage tenders through to contract execution, including coordination with our Corporate Procurement team, Legal advisors, Probity advisors and external agencies, e.g. Industry Capability Network (ICN).
- Manage small sourcing events including selecting and contracting with new suppliers and terminating where applicable.
- Establish and manage fit-for-purpose vendor panels and manage performance to ensure contract and commercial success.
- Ensure our Contracts are maintained and governed including onboarding, monitoring of expiring contracts, and tracking of expiring certificates.
- Generate regular reporting specific to procurement performance including vendor segmentation and analysis of contract expenditure. Work closely with the Contract and Commercial Specialist to advise and implement cost saving opportunities.
- Provide advice, guidance and training on procurement tools and processes to all divisions across the Service Futures (technology) group.
- Identify and drive continuous improvements in relation to Contract / Vendor Management and Procurement, in order to support more efficient and agile ways of working.
What we're Looking for
- Procurement and contract management experience - Mandatory
- Tertiary Qualification in Business and/or Procurement - Desirable
- Analytical and negotiation skills appropriate to tender and contract management.
- Able to develop collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to manage ambiguity, particularly in relation to procurement rules. Can apply their own judgement and take a pragmatic approach while ensuring compliance.
- Able to learn and apply knowledge of new IT systems and tools
- Proactive and continuous improvement mindset
- Extensive knowledge and experience in MS Office tools, especially Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role in a public sector is advantageous
