Build your future with Gladstone Ports Corporation

Shape your career with hands‑on experience at one of Queensland’s most vital trade gateways. Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) is Queensland’s leading multi‑commodity port and a proud Government Owned Corporation. Our work supports regional jobs, global trade, and long‑term prosperity for Queensland communities — and our apprentices play a vital role in that future.

We are now seeking motivated and safety‑focused individuals to join our 2027 Apprentice Intake in the following trades:

  • Apprentice Diesel Fitter Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology

About The Apprenticeship

As a GPC apprentice, you will undertake a structured, supported training program combining on‑the‑job learning with formal study through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

You will be mentored by experienced tradespeople and gain exposure to a wide range of plant, infrastructure and operational environments across our port facilities. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will contribute to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of GPC assets while developing the technical skills, judgement and professionalism required of a qualified tradesperson.

This is a fixed term full‑time apprenticeship with regular working hours and scheduled training commitments.

What You’ll Be Doing

Under supervision, apprentices will assist with:

  • Installation, servicing, inspection and maintenance of GPC machinery, plant and infrastructure relevant to their trade
  • Routine servicing, preventative maintenance and condition monitoring
  • Assisting with breakdown response, fault finding and basic troubleshooting
  • Applying safe work practices, risk assessments and controls
  • Supporting qualified tradespeople in repair and maintenance activities
  • Maintaining accurate records and completing required training milestones
  • Working in line with GPC policies, safety systems and environmental obligations

Our Values in Action

At GPC, being an apprentice means more than learning a trade — it means taking pride in your work, looking out for your safety and the safety of others, doing the right thing even when no one is watching, and taking responsibility for your actions. You’ll be expected to show respect to your teammates, customers and community, be open to learning and feedback, work collaboratively, and approach each day with professionalism, curiosity and enthusiasm. We value people who are humble, motivated and committed to contributing positively to our ports and to Queensland’s future.
