The Role

You will own end-to-end employee relations and compliance initiatives, ensuring legally sound, commercially driven outcomes. Partnering closely with HR, leadership, and external counsel, you’ll play a key role in mitigating risk and shaping the organisation’s ER strategy across Australia and New Zealand.

What You’ll Do

Employee Relations Case Management:

Manage complex ER matters end-to-end (performance, misconduct, grievances, terminations).

Provide expert, pragmatic advice to HR, leaders, and executives.

Ensure consistency across multi-site operations in AU & NZ.

Track cases, identify trends, and contribute to people strategy.

Workplace Relations:

Provide advice on industrial relations matters and employment obligations.

Interpret and apply relevant legislation, modern awards, and policies.

Support leaders in understanding and meeting workplace obligations.

Monitor regulatory changes and ensure organisational compliance.

Fair Work & Risk Management:

Support and coordinate Fair Work Commission (FWC) matters where required.

Partner with external legal counsel on strategy, case management, and documentation.

Analyse outcomes and recommend improvements to minimise future risk.

Compliance & Remuneration:

Lead wage compliance reviews, audits, and remediation programmes.

Manage underpayment rectifications and FWO interactions.

Strengthen governance frameworks and prevent future risk.

Policy & Governance:

Maintain ER/HR policies aligned with AU & NZ legislations.

Monitor legislative changes and advise leadership.

Support psychosocial risk management in partnership with WHS.

Capability Building:

Coach HRBPs and leaders on ER best practice and procedural fairness.

Develop practical tools, templates, and training to drive consistency.

Qualifications & Experience

5–8+ years’ ER experience in retail, hospitality, or similar award-based environments

Strong case management experience in high-volume, multi-site settings

Proven industrial relations expertise

Experience managing or supporting FWC proceedings

Hands-on wage compliance and remediation experience

Strong knowledge of the General Retail Industry Award (essential)

New Zealand ER experience (essential)
