People & Culture Manager

We’re looking for a People & Culture Manager to partner with our Marleston manufacturing site and play an active role in the broader Arnott’s People & Culture team. This is a role for an experienced P&C leader who knows how to operate close to the floor, build trust quickly, and bring a practical, commercial lens to people matters. You’ll work closely with Justin Woods, our Plant Manager, as a trusted strategic partner, helping shape the people agenda for the site while staying connected to enterprise-wide P&C priorities across Arnott’s. This is not a role for someone who wants to advise from the sidelines. It needs someone who enjoys being onsite, understands the rhythm of a manufacturing environment, and knows how to balance operational urgency with long-term people outcomes. You’ll be visible, credible and hands-on with leaders, employees, delegates and union representatives — while also contributing as part of a connected and collaborative P&C function.

What you’ll be responsible for: As People & Culture Manager, you’ll lead the people agenda for Marleston while contributing to broader P&C priorities across the Arnott’s Group. You will:

  • Partner closely with the Plant Manager and site leadership team to deliver people strategies that support safety, performance, engagement and operational outcomes
  • Build trusted relationships across the site, including with frontline teams, people leaders, delegates and union representatives
  • Lead and support employee and industrial relations matters, including grievances, investigations, disputes and people risk
  • Play an active role in Enterprise Agreement activity, including preparation, consultation, negotiation support and implementation
  • Coach and support leaders to lift capability, confidence and consistency in how they lead their teams
  • Support workforce planning, talent acquisition, retention and succession planning for critical site roles
  • Use people data, site insight and workforce trends to guide decisions and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Lead the people side of change initiatives and help leaders navigate transformation in a practical and constructive way
  • Bring the voice of the site into broader P&C discussions, helping shape strategies that are grounded in operational reality
  • Work collaboratively with the wider P&C team to drive consistency, connection and shared impact across Arnott’s

Ingredients for success

  • You’re a practical and credible P&C leader who understands that great site partnering is built on trust, judgement and follow-through.
  • You can work strategically with senior leaders, but you’re equally comfortable being visible on site, listening to employees, resolving issues early and helping leaders make good decisions.
  • Deep ER capability and strong employment law knowledge, with the confidence to navigate complex people risk, advise leaders on defensible decisions, and ensure matters are managed fairly, consistently and commercially.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Significant experience in People & Culture or HR, ideally within manufacturing, supply chain, FMCG, industrial or other operational environments
  • Strong experience partnering with site-based leadership teams
  • Proven industrial and employee relations capability, including exposure to Enterprise Agreement negotiations, union engagement, grievances and dispute resolution
  • A collaborative and engaging style that helps you build trust across all levels of a site
  • The confidence to challenge constructively, influence outcomes and bring leaders with you
  • Strong judgement and resilience in complex, fast-moving environments
  • A hands-on approach, with the ability to move between strategic priorities and day-to-day operational matters
  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation, compliance and people risk
  • Strong communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to use data, insight and business context to improve people outcomes
