Social Media & Content Marketer

JDN Tuition

We're looking for one person to help build the biggest tutoring brand in the country. If you love marketing and making content the way people love sport, this is for you.

The Company. At JDN Tuition, we are a start-up Australian tutoring provider delivering personalised one-to-one tutoring and mentorship to help students build deep subject understanding and genuine confidence. We're very good at tutoring. The part still wide open is content. That's where we will be the best at, building this engine with you, someone who is absolutely obsessed enough to give it their all.

Here's who you are. You smashed your HSC, so you know that world inside out. You tutor, or you used to, so you understand both sides: how a stressed student thinks, and what makes a parent finally say yes. But above all, you're obsessed with content. You live and breathe it. You know why some videos explode and most die, and you're not afraid to spend hours on end each day finding out why. You understand hooks, retention, pacing, lighting, sound, thumbnails, titles, the lot, and you can't watch a great video without instinctively pulling apart why it works. You look up to the best in the world at this, and you already know that with the time and the platform, you could build something massive.

The Role. This is a part-time, hybrid role where you'd work side by side with Jayden, the founder, on most days, plus the wider team. A lot of this role is working from home: scripting videos, researching competitors, tracking what's working in spreadsheets, briefing our editor, scheduling posts, and overall being an active contributor to JDN's organic growth strategy. But a real chunk is feet on the ground: filming with our tutors on uni campuses and around Sydney, capturing content, and helping build/run our podcast, including shoots out on the boat. This is an all-in role. You need to really love what you do.

What You'd Do

  • Own the content calendar and the direction of every video: topics, hooks, pacing, length and visuals
  • Write and refine scripts, as well as source visuals, that stop the scroll and maintain high retention. This involves playing an active part in the editing process.
  • Get out and film: with tutors on campus and around Sydney, and on the podcast shoots
  • Coordinate our creators, help them film, and quality-check their content before it goes live
  • Schedule and publish across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and more
  • Run daily competitor analysis: who's posting, when, and what's actually working for them
  • Track our own numbers in spreadsheets: views, watch time, conversions, and the formats worth doubling down on
  • Watch the news, trends and memes every day, and turn the right moments into content fast
  • Build for a two-sided audience: students bring the attention, parents make the decision, and you speak to both
  • Report on what's working, cut what isn't, and keep finding the next format that pops

You (MUST-HAVES)

  • Based in Sydney (or Melbourne)
  • A genuinely good tutor, with a strong ATAR and a real grip on the HSC
  • You understand students and parents, because you'll be winning over both
  • Some social media marketing or content experience, even an internship or posting your own content
  • Completely obsessed with content and the craft behind it. Already posting your own is a big plus
  • Curious, organised, and a passion for learning; you should always be asking questions and learning
  • Happy being hands-on and out in the field, not glued to a desk
  • Able to get around for shoots; your own transport a plus

You (NICE-TO-HAVES)

  • You already post your own content with a channel that's done well
  • A good understanding of digital marketing: funnels, campaigns, analytics tools
  • Handy with scheduling and basic design tools like Canva, or light editing yourself
  • Relevant studies or experience in Marketing, Communications, Media, Education, or a related field are preferred but not mandatory.

This role starts part-time and flexible, around 15 to 25 hours a week, as an independent contractor on agreed hours. The base is modest, $25 to $30 an hour to start, with strong bonus opportunities based on results. Our promise is simple: do great work, get rewarded, grow fast. We start with a 30 to 90-day trial. If it's working, this will become a full-time, ongoing role, with a team of your own to lead down the track. For the right person, there's no ceiling here.

HOW TO APPLY

As part of your application, email a short video (up to 90 seconds) to ***email_hidden*** of you explaining why you're the best person for this, and then telling us about a piece of content (a video, a creator, a campaign) that you think is brilliant, and exactly why it works. That'll tell us more than any CV.

No editing needed. We're looking for how you think and how much you love this, not production polish. Optional: a link to content you've already made, your own or for someone else.

If it's a fit, we'll be in touch.
