Your Opportunity

Mission Australia Brisbane Homelessness Service (previously Roma House) is a non-exclusionary temporary supported accommodation service that also provides mobile outreach services to clients in various locations. The service supports homeless males over 18 with medium to high needs.

Our Case Workers provide support to clients who are homeless or at risk of being homeless within a variety of settings, including residential and other accommodation types (boarding houses, private rentals, Department of Housing properties and other locations where people are residing or rough sleeping). Case Workers will normally work within business hours, Monday – Friday

Your key responsibilities will be to

  • Case manage clients with complex needs and that are experiencing homelessness
  • Work closely with clients to create individual support plans to help them achieve their goals
  • Updating data, file notes and reporting for the service
  • Induct new clients into the service and ensure they are aware of relevant policies and procedures
  • Liaise with a large variety of stakeholders including clients, community organisations, health and government bodies

Requirements for Success

  • Diploma or Degree qualified in a relevant field including Social Work, Human Services or Psychology will be highly regarded.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role working in a Case Management environment ideally working with homeless clients with a variety of different backgrounds and levels of disadvantage
  • Strong skills in advocacy, communication and referral
  • The ability to positively communicate with residents that may at times have complex and challenging behaviours
  • Sound Computer skills in MS Office and strong written communication
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Current driver’s licence

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
