PERSOL have partnered with a local government organisation seeking a Governance Officer on a full-time permanent basis.
Working closely with Executive, Elected Members and internal stakeholders, this role plays a key part in ensuring effective governance practices across the organisation.

- Salary range: $100,000 - $110,000 + Super
About the Role
Reporting within the Corporate Services function, this role supports governance, compliance and Council administration activities. Responsibilities include coordinating Council and Committee meeting processes, maintaining governance registers, monitoring legislative compliance and supporting the ongoing development of governance frameworks and policies.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate Council, Committee and Audit & Risk meeting cycles, including agendas, minutes and meeting administration.

- Support the preparation of Council reports and annual meeting schedules.
- Facilitate compliance monitoring and reporting activities across the organisation.
- Maintain governance registers including delegations, authorisations and compliance records.
- Assist with the development and review of Council policies, procedures, protocols and local laws.
- Monitor legislative updates and provide advice regarding governance obligations.
- Support annual returns, compliance audits and governance reporting requirements.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, Executive and Elected Members on governance matters.
About You
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Local Government Act 1995 and associated regulations.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and governance requirements.
- Experience preparing reports, agendas, minutes and governance documentation.
- Understanding of governance, compliance, risk management and administrative practices.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
