Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site Piano/Vocal Tutor with accompaniment role based at Salesian College Sunbury in Sunbury, VIC. The tutor will provide individual and small-group piano and vocal tuition to students across a range of year levels, focusing on developing technical skills, musicality, and confidence. Daily responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons, preparing students for performances, exams, and assessments, and providing piano accompaniment for rehearsals, concerts, and school events as required. The tutor will collaborate closely with the Music Coordinator and other music staff to support ensembles, maintain effective communication with families, and contribute to the broader co-curricular music program. Administrative tasks will include scheduling lessons, maintaining attendance records, and providing progress reports in line with College expectations.

Qualifications

  • Strong piano performance skills and experience in vocal coaching, including the ability to accompany soloists and ensembles with confidence and musical sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated experience in music education, including planning and delivering individual and small-group lessons for school-aged learners.
  • Formal music qualifications (e.g., degree, diploma, or equivalent AMEB/Trinity levels) in piano, voice, or music education are highly regarded.
  • Ability to prepare students for performances, examinations, and assessments, including experience with relevant examination boards or school performance programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills, including effective time management, lesson scheduling, and accurate record-keeping.

  • Current Working with Children Check (or eligibility to obtain) and adherence to child safety and safeguarding requirements.
