Green Light are looking for Systems Administrators to join our Sydney delivery team associated to a large project currently being undertaken. This is a great opportunity for Systems Administrators with some or limited experience in a large enterprise environment to be associated to a large program of work.
The role is focused on core infrastructure build and configuration activities, specifically validating server builds across both Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, and supporting storage-related tasks including disk allocation and partitioning.
Playing a key part in this cross-skilled environment, you will support the team in ensuring systems are built correctly, configured to standard and ready for deployment, while developing practical experience in enterprise infrastructure operations across both Windows and Linux platforms.
This role is ideal for someone looking to build foundational experience in systems engineering and infrastructure delivery within a structured enterprise environment.
Responsibilities
- Checking and validating Windows and RHEL server builds to ensure configurations meet required standards and SOPs
- Building and configuring servers following documented processes across Windows and Linux environments
- Adding and configuring storage to servers, including disk allocation, partitioning and LUN configuration
- Supporting VMware administration tasks including provisioning and configuring virtual machines
- Creating and managing disk partitions in line with build requirements
- Supporting clustering technologies across Windows and Red Hat environments
- Assisting with Active Directory integration, DNS configuration and domain-related activities
- Supporting system validation, testing, and ensuring operational readiness before deployment
- Assisting with system checks to ensure builds are ready for deployment and handover
- Following established processes for build, configuration and change activities
- Escalating issues or inconsistencies identified during build and configuration tasks
- Supporting documentation of build processes, validation steps and configurations
Requirements
- 5-10+ years’ experience in a Systems Administrator, Systems Engineer, or infrastructure-related role
- Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Good working knowledge of Windows Server environments
- Experience with both Red Hat and Windows clustering technologies
- Strong VMware administration experience (vSphere / ESXi)
- Good understanding of Active Directory and DNS
- Familiarity with server builds, storage concepts, and disk partitioning
- Proven ability to follow documented SOPs and build standards
- Experience with server validation, testing, and operational readiness activities
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when working through build and configuration tasks
- Proven experience working on high-visibility, time-critical projects
- Understanding of general IT infrastructure concepts
- Willingness to learn and develop within a structured technical environment
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team-based delivery model
- Relevant IT studies or certifications (Microsoft, Red Hat or similar)
- Exposure to enterprise environments or build/deployment activities
- Experience working with build documentation or configuration checklists
