Full-time | Hybrid (in-office initial period, then max 2 days WFH by agreement)

$578 - $722 per day

Our client, a major Local Council in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs, is looking for an experienced Senior Contracts and Commercial Specialist to join on a temporary basis for 3-6 months. This role will support delivery of key commercial priorities and help uplift capability within a newly formed Commercial function, with a focus on strategic sourcing, procurement and contract lifecycle management. Reporting to the Manager Commercial, you will work closely with the Commercial Analyst and Manager Contracts and Benefits to embed best practice across the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end contract lifecycle management and deliver strategic sourcing initiatives across multi-category spend
• Develop and execute tender strategies, managing end-to-end tender processes
• Lead complex commercial negotiations with suppliers and optimise supplier performance and relationships
• Identify and implement commercial opportunities, cost/value improvements, and manage contract pipeline and renewal strategy
• Establish contract governance, KPI reporting and performance frameworks, with mentorship and capability uplift across the Commercial team

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in strategic sourcing, procurement and contract management
• Demonstrated capability in multi-category sourcing and procurement, including site services, maintenance and repairables (MRO), civils and construction, and goods (directs and indirects)
• Strong experience in tender strategy, sourcing and delivery
• Track record delivering commercial value, cost savings and service uplift
• Advanced negotiation and supplier relationship management skills
• Sound understanding of risk, governance and compliance frameworks
• Ability to operate autonomously and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment
