Our Business Analytics Department plays a crucial role in transforming complex data into meaningful intelligence that enhances decision-making and business outcomes. In addition to supporting Queensland X-Ray, we are embarking on an exciting expansion of our analytics capability across Sonic Healthcare Australia Radiology (SHAR), delivering scalable reporting and analytics across six radiology entities nationwide.
About The Role
This is a newly created fixed-term, full-time position for 12 months, established to support the expansion of reporting and analytics capabilities across Queensland X-Ray and Sonic Healthcare Australia Radiology. You will be working within the Business Analytics Department, reporting to the Business Analytics Manager.
This role serves as the critical link between enterprise data and actionable insights, bridging the gap between data engineering and enterprise analytics for Queensland X-Ray's and Sonic Healthcare Australia Radiology (SHAR). The Analytics Engineer is responsible for curating analytical datasets and developing robust data pipelines that integrate business logic and raw data into our data warehouses, enabling trusted operational and strategic reporting.
A key focus of the role is scaling Queensland X-Ray's existing analytics data pipelines and databases across SHAR, enabling the standardisation and expansion of operational and strategic reporting for the six radiology entities.
This role is based in South Bank, Brisbane, in close proximity to various public transport services.
In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For
- Support the rollout and standardisation of Queensland X-Ray's existing data pipelines and databases across SHAR
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, business rules, ETL processes and reporting assets
- Develop and optimise analytical databases, data models and semantic layers to reporting and forecasting
- Investigate and resolve ETL, data pipeline and data quality issues and implementation of preventative processes
- Implement data quality, validation and monitoring frameworks to ensure timely and reliable data for reporting
- Develop and enhance operational and strategic reporting asset, including Power BI and Paginated Reports
- Collaborate with operational leaders to translate business requirements into data models and reporting solutions
- Perform additional duties as directed by the Business Analytics Manager
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics or a related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering or a similar role
- Advanced SQL Server expertise including database design, stored procedures, functions and performance tuning
- Proven expertise in developing scalable ETL processes, data pipelines and business logic implementation
- Experience resolving complex ETL, data pipeline and data quality issues and implementing preventative solutions
- Experience building complex data models and analytical architectures within SQL Server and Power BI
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft BI stack, including SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, Power BI and Paginated Reports
- Proficiency in SQL, C++, DAX, and Power Query, with Python experience a plus
- Proven experience implementing data quality and validation controls to ensure data integrity and reliability
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business requirements into analytic solutions
- Experience working in radiology or healthcare environments is advantageous
- Experience with UKG Pro WFM is advantageous
