Application Architects design, implement and evolve the application environment in the organisation. They pay close attention to how applications interact with each other to form a service and aim to improve the way application support the business. This role will also call for hands on delivery, pattern setting, development and team lead role of a small high performing multi-disciplinary team of developers.

Key duties and responsibilities

Client has developed a Power Platform portal to service seafarers.

This is an incremental scalable project designed to eventually service as many as 105 fee for service transactions across 83 regulatory functions.

The solution includes scope for consideration for how AI can augment the customer and processing teams' experience and implementing complimentary features to that end.

Primary role is the support for the portal's evolution and development, setting the patterns and working with the developers, project team and business to build on the success we have enjoyed to date.

Essential (mandatory)

  • Demonstrated experience delivering technology solutions within an Australian Government regulatory environment (Commonwealth agency or statutory authority preferred), including familiarity with the governance, compliance, and change-control expectations of that context.
  • Expert Power Pages development (Liquid, web templates, custom JS/CSS, FetchXML, Dataverse web API).
  • Dynamics 365 / Dataverse solution architecture: security roles, plugins (C#), business rules, model driven and canvas Power Apps.
  • Solution lifecycle management with PAC CLI (managed/unmanaged solutions, Power Pages packaging).
  • Azure API Management and RESTful integration patterns across payment, identity, and third-party services.
  • Azure AD B2C / Entra ID identity federation for external and internal authentication.
  • Azure DevOps CI/CD (Repos, Pipelines, branching strategy) and Power Apps Deployment Pipelines.
  • Hands-on technical leadership of a small multi-disciplinary development team, including pattern setting and standards definition.

Highly desirable

  • Practical experience embedding AI into the Power Platform (Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI, AI Builder) for customer self-service or back-office process augmentation.
  • Understanding of RAG patterns and grounding AI on enterprise data with appropriate governance.
  • Test automation integration (Playwright) into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Azure Key Vault and IAM governance maturity.
  • Experience scaling a transactional service portal across a large catalogue of regulatory functions.
