Salary Range: LGO6 ( $98,691 - $105,349 + per annum + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

About The Role

This role oversees the inspection of infrastructure works associated with private development, ensuring construction aligns with approvals and Council standards. You will conduct inspections across construction and maintenance phases, assess existing assets to inform development requirements, and provide clear technical advice to developers and stakeholders, including addressing non-compliance. The role also involves preparing accurate reports and applying relevant legislation, standards, and codes across a range of development activities.

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will collaborate across planning, infrastructure and design functions to support coordinated land use outcomes. You’ll use strong analytical skills to assess complex issues, contribute to policy and process improvements, and mentor inspectors and field staff. The role requires confident communication, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering consistent, high-quality inspection outcomes.

About You

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent), or equivalent work experience, or demonstrated progress towards a formal qualification in engineering from a recognised tertiary institution Minimum 5 years’ experience (10 preferred) in civil construction/asset inspection
  • Detailed knowledge of civil design and construction principles associated with the development of engineering projects and municipal infrastructure
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, codes and local government requirements
  • Understanding of Planning Act, development legislation and Council planning scheme
  • Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships and work in a team
  • Ability to interpret legislation, drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong written communication, time management and prioritisation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and inspection/assessment systems
  • Current “C” class driver licence
