You will operate at the centre of high-profile media activity - working across government, operations, and regional teams to deliver clear, timely and strategic communications.

This is a high impact role for a professional who can navigate fast-moving environments, maintain composure under pressure, and respond with speed, sound judgement and precision.

Your role in action

  • Lead corporate media planning and strategic responses aligned to organisational and government expectations, protecting and enhancing Horizon Power’s reputation.
  • Manage media enquiries and deliver proactive media opportunities in partnership with the Corporate Executive and Ministerial office.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media, government and key stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate and high-impact messaging.
  • Support crisis communications through narrative development, media triage and coordination of inputs across operations to deliver clear, factual messaging.
  • Monitor media and sentiment, anticipate reputational risks (particularly in regional communities), and partner with social media and marketing teams for unified, impactful communications.

What you’ll bring

  • A tertiary qualification in Media, Communications, Journalism or Public Relations.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating complex media issues, including crisis communications and reputational risk management.
  • Proven ability to operate at pace, applying sound judgement and staying composed in high-pressure situations.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to respond quickly and effectively to emerging issues.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging senior leaders, media and government stakeholders.
