We are seeking Assistants in Nursing (AIN) to join the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MHDA) Casual pool working across Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD).

Where you'll be working

As part of the NSLHD MHDA Casual Pool, you’ll have the flexibility to nominate your preferred facility, with opportunities available at

  • Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital (HKH) – Hornsby
  • Macquarie Hospital - North Ryde
  • Northern Beaches Hospital - Frenchs Forest
  • Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) – St Leonards

What you'll be doing

As an AIN within the MHDA Services, you will support person-centred, recovery-focused care. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Mental Health AIN undertakes delegated patient care activities and assists with the collection, documentation, and communication of relevant healthcare information, in accordance with the Mental Health AIN Care Activities Map.

MHDA Statement of Intention

The intention of the NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence-based practices and collaboration.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in second or third year of a Bachelor of Nursing or degree deemed appropriate; or current enrolment in Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121) with evidence of completion of Block 1; or completion of HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care).
  • Please indicate where you have completed an acute Mental Health clinical placement as a part of your undergraduate nursing degree or AIN course.

Please demonstrate how you communicate effectively with both written and verbal communication skills incorporating your effective interpersonal skills.
