Western Sydney International Airport

Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport is at the heart of the incredible transformation across Western Sydney. WSI will be a 24/7 hub for international, domestic and cargo services, creating fantastic career opportunities in Sydney's cultural heartland.

We've reached a major milestone with completion of the terminal and runway, and we're now working towards opening our world-class airport later this year. Designed for efficiency and sustainability with state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology, there'll be opportunities for generations to come in Sydney's fastest growing area. We're now looking for passionate people who want to be part of something special - building a legacy for Western Sydney.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a proactive Regulatory Affairs Advisor to help shape and support our engagement with government and regulators as we grow.

In this role, you'll sit within the Corporate Affairs team and play a key part in ensuring we meet our regulatory obligations while building strong, trusted relationships across federal, state, and local government. You'll operate in a dynamic and fast-moving environment where priorities evolve quickly - and where your ability to bring structure, insight, and momentum will make a real difference.

This is a hands-on role with real exposure. You'll support regulatory strategy execution, keep the team ahead of policy and political developments, and ensure high-quality, timely materials for government engagement.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and delivery of policy and regulatory engagement activities, ensuring alignment with organisational requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining stakeholder contact lists and supporting day-to-day engagement with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Monitor regulatory, policy, and political updates, and share relevant information with the team.
  • Help prepare and coordinate documentation such as submissions, briefings, and responses for regulatory and parliamentary processes.
  • Assist in drafting and compiling materials for Parliamentary processes such as Questions on Notice and Senate Estimates.
  • Provide administrative and coordination support to the team, including scheduling, tracking actions, and managing documentation.
  • Support internal collaboration by liaising with stakeholders to gather inputs and ensure timely delivery of materials. Help ensure consistency across documents and communications related to policy and regulatory matters.
  • Maintain records and filing systems for regulatory and policy documentation.
  • Support reporting activities by collating data, updating trackers, and preparing basic summaries.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships across the organisation.
  • Demonstrate organisational values through reliability, teamwork, and attention to detail.

About You

  • Tertiary degree qualification or equivalent relevant experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience (3-5 years) in regulatory affairs, government, policy or a related environment; experience in aviation or infrastructure is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory and policy issues into clear, practical advice.
  • Sound understanding of federal, state and local government and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to navigate processes and support engagement activities.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of outcomes in complex or regulated environments, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Familiarity working with government departments, regulators and/or ministerial offices.
  • Experience contributing to the management of regulatory or reputational issues in a structured and proactive manner.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including interpreting policy, legislation and regulatory requirements to inform business decisions.
  • Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced and high-pressure
